Gianluigi Donnarumma's Future: Why staying at Milan is more important for the Sport than you thi

Seven-time European Cup Champions AC Milan are in obvious tough times. Between lack of money in the transfer market, poor finishes in the league and total confusion regarding the sale of the club, Milan has fallen from grace like no other team in recent memory.

Few bright spots have shown up in recent times like the phenomenon Gianluigi Donnarumma, at just 16 he got his first start for the legendary Rossoneri and he hasn’t looked back since. Even just today he was named the top youngster under 19 in the world. But with more success comes with more rumors despite the fact he is a member of a top five successful club of all time.

Rumors of a sale abroad to clubs like Real Madrid and Manchester City have been floating around in recent months. Also the possible rumors of him replacing the legendary Gianluigi Buffon not just on the national team, but Serie A giants Juventus.

Now to the main point of this article as to why Donnarumma and his super-agent, Mino Raiola need to be patient with Milan. Back in the 1980’s Milan was relegated to Serie B for match fixing scandals but yet all-time great defender Franco Baresi elected to stay with the club and saw better days in the late 80’s and early 90’s with the legendary Milan clubs. Fast forward to Juventus in the mid 2000’s where Buffon still elected to play for Juventus despite being relegated for two seasons and many years without winning any trophies, now Buffon and Juventus are on track for a record 6th straight Serie A scudetto.

Milan has already shown the improvements by beating Juventus twice this season and have also shown strides with young and up incoming talent. Better days are ahead for Milan and history says that if Donnarumma were to stay loyal he may become a great champion for Milan and one of the greatest winners in the history of the sport itself.
