According to Calciomercato.com, AC Milan and FC Inter have expressed interest in Barcelona right-back Aleix Vidal. However, his agent Alejandro Campano has denied any truth to the reports and expressed his client is not leaving Spain.
Vidal signed a five-year contract worth €18 million with Barcelona in June of 2015 from Sevilla. The Spanish international suffered a season ending injury in February against Alaves.
Campano also expressed that Vidal is fully focused on recovering from injury and not worried about or even thinking about leaving Barcelona.
Unfortunately for the 27-year-old defender, he was beginning to find his form before dislocating his ankle. Manager Luis Enrique, praised Vidal’s play after Barcelona’s 5-0 victory over Las Plamas back in January.
“Based on the way he's trained for the last few months, Aleix is ready to play,” Luis Enrique said in his post-match news conference. Vidal scored his first La Liga goal in the victory.
"He's proved his manager wrong and he's ready to compete. He was excellent today.”
It is not shocking that Milan and Inter are both rumored to be interested in Vidal’s services. Although both teams have a strong defensive presence, Vidal would further cement their dominance.
Both Inter and Milan are currently ranked in the top-five for goals conceded (Inter-31 & Milan-32) in Serie A this year.
In addition, the timing of the transfer is very tactical. Both Italian teams are fully aware of Vidal’s injury and could be using that as leverage when negotiating a possible deal.
Despite Campano refuting reports, if the money is right the defender could be on the move.
