Arsenal and Liverpool have shown interest in Inter striker Gabriel Barbosa amidst his current situation with the club, according to Calciomercato.com.
Rumors say that the Premier League teams would be willing to offer Barbosa a chance with their clubs despite his unsuccessful season at the San Siro.
Inter would reportedly be open to loaning the striker out, but in January Barbosa’s agent said the player is only looking for permanent transfers.
The Brazilian striker made his move to Inter from Santos last summer for 30 million. Barbosa came with a hefty price tag because of his attacking prowess with the Brazilian side. He scored five goals in 11 appearances for Santos in 2016, and scored 10 goals with the team in 2015 along with four assists.
The Sao Paulo native also played well during his time with Brazil’s youth national teams. Barbosa’s performances earned him the name “Gabigol.”
However, Barbosa has been nothing special for Inter since his move to Italy. Barbosa hasn’t started a single game in the Serie A, and has only played a total of 153 minutes this season.
In fact, the player has more yellow cards this season (2) than goals. The 20-year-old has only scored one goal in eight total appearances for the Nerazzurri.
Inter has also been linked to a move for a back-up striker to Mauro Icardi. If a new striker comes, Barbosa would likely ask to leave, especially since he already doesn’t get playing time.
If a team gave Barbosa a fair chance with actual playing time, it’s likely he would succeed. The young forward has the ability to score and set up his teammates for chances. Barbosa’s finishing is also a strength and the striker could be dangerous in the air.
Barbosa’s future with Inter continues to look gloomy with Inter as he receives Premier League interest.
