There hasn’t been a team to repeat in Europe since AC Milan in the late 80’s early 90’s. Real Madrid want to be that squad that can break that record but, they do have to go through one of the best teams in Europe, Bayern Munich. Led by former Madrid manager, Carlo Ancelotti is looking to prove why Madrid was foolish for firing him after winning the elusive la decimal.
Not only is Bayern ready for this competition but they are ready to prove that they are just as good as a club like Madrid. They have top talent in between the posts with Manuel Neuer who is substantially better than Keylor Navas who has struggled this season.
The first leg will be played in Munich and Bayern have a good shot at keeping a clean sheet against Madrid. Madrid have struggled on the road this past campaign in the Champions League, they had a tough bout against Legia where they drew 3-3. With a shaky defense like that against a giant like Bayern mistakes should be kept at the bare minimum.
Robert Lewandowski is the x factor in these two legs, if Bayern can get him going I don’t see how Sergio Ramos and company can stop him with Navas playing the way he has. When he is right there is no better striker in the world than Lewie.
Prediction:
As you can tell in my analysis I am picking the German giants to knock off the defending champions. One reason is that, it is so difficult to repeat and make it back to the finals and especially when the club hasn’t been playing its best football. Keylor Navas worries me too much and Madrid can’t get away with thesefundamental mistakes against a team like Bayern. Finally Carlo Ancelotti is the best manager in the world and was the teacher for Zidane. Although Zidane has done an impressive job with the club, Ancelotti remains the master and it will show in these two legs.
I predict Bayern advancing to the next round with a score of 4-2 through both legs.
