Premier League leader Chelsea and Serie A side AC Milan may be possible destinations for Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata, according to calciomercato.com via Diario Gol who said the forward is unhappy at Madrid.
The report from the Spanish news outlet said that Morata has informed Real Madrid he wants to leave the club at the end of the season due to playing time.
The 24-year-old has scored 17 goals in all competitions for Los Blancos. However, Zinedine Zidane has preferred to play Karim Benzema (15 goals in all competitions) as the team's starting striker. Morata has appeared in 21 La Liga matches, but has only started in 11 of those.
Milan are considering pursuing the Spaniard as the club's new ownership has been finalized. The Rossoneri face a problem though, in that Morata is a former Juventus player.
The striker does not want to play for any Italian club aside from the Bianconeri, so he prefers a move to the Premier League, which is where Chelsea comes into play.
Chelsea are interested in Morata as a possible replacement for Diego Costa, should he depart Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.
The Madrid player said last week that he had actually discussed a possible summer move last summer with Chelsea boss Antonio Conte and Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino. However, Real Madrid stopped any move from happening.
Morata would be a boost to any of his suitors due to his talent. The young star can make key passes to set up his teammates, and is obviously not afraid to take his own shot. Morata can take long shots, but also likes to dribble and draw fouls. It's worth mentioning that Morata is also a counter-attack threat each time he's on the field.
The forward also contributes on the defensive end. Morata will put in a tackle if he has to and commits fouls often; hence the reason why he has six yellow cards in La Liga this season.
The future for Morata remains to be seen with an exit from the Santiago Bernabéu being possible, and Chelsea and Milan being possible suitors.
